When You’re Strange (a documentary about The Doors by Tom DiCillo)
The creative chemistry of four brilliant artists - drummer John Densmore, guitarist Robby Kreiger, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, and singer Jim Morrison - made The Doors one of America’s most iconic and influential rock bands.
Growing up with their music I’m really looking forward to this… Not that I’m be ‘that’ old, but my first crush as a teenager was a big The Doors fan and I somehow connect that particular time in my life and all the feelings and memories with their music. Good times.

We’re the Stupid Ones -

When folks need an elevator, we should give them an elevator, not an airplane. We’ve been giving them airplanes for 30 years, and then laughing at them for being too stupid to fly them right.

I think we’re the stupid ones.

Located in the heart of San Francisco’s Financial District, Tadich Grill is the oldest restaurant in both San Francisco and the state of California. Operating since 1849, the restaurant began as The New World Coffee Stand and is renowned for being one of the first establishments to grill seafood over mesquite charcoal in the 1920s.Tadich Grill substantiated damage from a flue fire in August 2009. Some of my pictures from this fire can be seen here: sfappeal.com/news/2009/08/big-fire-in-fidi.php

This was an amazing sunset spectacle to witness. Happening only two weeks out of the year, the setting sun falls behind the vertical face of El Capitan, selectively lighting this waterfall with the orange light of sunset. Gradually growing in intensity and color for the last 5 minutes or so, it was like seeing a narrow strip of lava flowing down the face of El Capitan. The weather and the water flows often don’t cooperate, I was shut out by a blizzard last year, so I was fortunate to see this display of natural sunset light on two consecutive evenings this year. It was 5 minutes of beauty that took two years of planning and 800 miles of driving to pull off. Good thing I have a few pictures to show for it!
